Accusation (Shirt)
Accusation: Truth reveals itself with each pointed finger. A break in the mask of power. Not an act of justice and honesty but hypocrisy, when power speaks too loudly it often exposes itself.
An accusation, shaming and blaming, inciting violence, often hides a bigger truth: the accuser is guilty of the very crime. By concealing their own crimes they grasp at straws and try to turn the tables. It is a daily terror, visible in the constant stream of false accusations used to hide crimes, justify violence, and escape justice and repair.
Israel claims that Hamas weaponized sexual violence since October 7th. Yet they themselves have committed crimes against humanity and applauded their soldiers who raped and assaulted those in prison who sought justice for Palestine.
History shows us an all too common ritual: a person with privilege accuses the oppressed, reframes the crime they are in fact guilty of, and pushes us toward a real or symbolic lynching. By targeting the oppressed, we rarely question the accuser.
White settlers framed Indigenous peoples and Black communities as savages to legitimize genocide, enslavement, and mass murder.
Trump accuses others of rape and child abuse, while facing his own long list of sexual assault. He wields his power to draw attention to his enemies on Epstein's list and deflecting his involvement, while simultaneously pardoning and protecting predators and pedophiles.
Casting blame does not clear guilt. If the accuser seems to know too much, it may not be because they witnessed it, but because they did it. The accuser is a pickpocket operating in reverse, brazenly in plain sight.
