OUR MISSION
Encouraging dialogue about and expression of needs that should be addressed.
America Hates US (or AHUS) is a contemporary lifestyle brand that reflects the current landscape of politics, health & socioeconomics.
Brewed to be equal parts informative, comedic & revolutionary, AHUS offers a tangible medium for those to communicate views we hold dear through the use of symbolic expression.
AHUS was not intended to make a passerby feel comfortable. However, our designs do not provide a podium for hate or discrimination either. Instead, we encourage dialogue, every day, everywhere, about needs that ought to be addressed.
HOW WE BEGAN
The AHUS brand emulates the personal styles and sensibilities of its co-founders, Brandon R. Rivera and Tareq G. Brown. Their friendship dates back to 1990 when they were neighbors in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn. Their interest to start an apparel line however originated during the 2016 presidential debate. Hate had catapulted to the forefront in the country’s national discourse and just tweeting about it wasn’t enough. The two decided to create an apparel collection that merged social awareness with street-wear aesthetics.
Today the brand’s team also includes: Lina M. Sánchez B., our Managing Editor and Phoenix Storm, our Marketing, Events, & Communication Strategist.
