lcomes PERIOD.

Nadya Okamoto (co-founder)

We are proud to announce that, starting June 15, we’ll be partnering up with Nadya Okamoto and her organization, PERIOD., and adding them to our list of organizations to donate to.

PERIOD. The Menstrual Movement. – a global youth-powered nonprofit that fights to end period poverty and period stigma through service, education, and advocacy. They are distributing tampons, pads, and menstrual cups to people in need, trying to change the way people think and talk about menstruation through education, and fighting for systemic change via period policy. To do all of this, they mobilize their global network of campus chapters. Currently, they have addressed over 570,000 periods and registered almost 400 chapters. To date, it’s the largest youth-run nonprofit in women’s health.

We are excited to be working with Nadya again! In May, she did a takeover on our IG page, where she answered questions about common misconceptions about periods. Additionally, she also did a book giveaway of her debut book, Period Power: A Manifesto for the Menstrual Movement (Simon & Schuster).

At AHUS, we find it imperative to give to organizations that do exceptional work both for and within marginalized communities. PERIOD. exemplifies such a group, committed to the understanding that “menstrual care is a basic right.”
