100 Girls & A Wrinkle in Time
We're taking 100 public school girls of color from Brooklyn to a private screening of the film, "A Wrinkle in Time" for free!
It's set for Friday, March 9th at 10AM and will be at the Cobble Hill Cinemas (265 Court St, Brooklyn, NY 11231).
Why? Because Representation Matters! More specifically, the significance of young women of color seeing characters they can identify with matters a lot. This is an ideal film for these girls to see.
The film is directed by Ava Duvernay and stars Oprah Winfrey and Mindy Kaling in the cast. Moreover, the film's protagonist is played by a Black girl, Storm Reid. It is my hope that such representation will encourage these young women that they can do it all: be the star in front of the camera and/or the person that creates the magic behind it.
We are accepting DONATIONS that WILL CONTRIBUTE TO the purchase of the TICKETS, SNACKS AND REFRESHMENTS AND SURPRISE GIFTS. IF YOU'D LIKE TO DONATE DIRECTLY TO THIS INITIATIVE, CLICK donate button on the home page.
